The Secret Sisterhood of Heartbreakers Lynn Weingarten Books
I'm really not quite sure just how this one slipped past me, but I hadn't heard of it. With so many out there, I guess it just happens sometimes. This one is NOT to be avoided though. A very fast paced, light and eager read. I was very easily caught up in Lucy's world, feeling her love and heartache. I wanted so badly to help her. To ease her pain from her broken heart. And when it came time to teach others a lesson? I was game for that too!The first day of school, and it had been all summer since Lucy had seen her boyfriend. Eagerly waiting with a surprise she knows he's not going to resist, she awaits on bouncy toes. When Alex arrives, she doesn't notice he's acting funny. She's too full of excitement. It's after she reveals her plans for him that he gives her the big and powerful blow in the gut. He doesn't want to be with her anymore. The part where I want to hit him. The part where Lucy denies what he says. She doesn't believe him and walks around in denial. She believes he'll come to his senses.
Being oh, so in love at the end of the school year, they had signed up for the same classes and now Lucy is stuck seeing him the majority of the day. How pathetic is this? How painful for Lucy. Her best friend Tristan tries his hardest to be there for her, but he just doesn't seem to do the trick. It's when Olivia makes her presence along with a touch of magic, inviting her into a world of no more heartache. All she as to do is break someone else's heart. But she has seven days to do it. Lucy can do this, no problem, but she has a few ulterior motives up her sleeves.

The Secret Sisterhood of Heartbreakers Lynn Weingarten Books Reviews
There was so much I did not like about this book. The magic was very out of place and felt forced. And the whole concept of this Magical Heartbreaking Club is weird and I did not like it. It seems ridiculous to think that these girls got their hearts so broken (some by guys that they weren't dating, just were in love with from afar) that they were like "NOPE EFF IT LET'S BREAK EVERYONE'S HEARTS SO THEY KNOW WHAT IT FEELS LIKE". What a ridiculous concept. When you get your heart broken you typically don't want to hurt someone that way so you do everything you can to protect the next person you are with from ever feeling that way.
This whole book also made it seem as though if Lucy didn't complete her task in these seven days that she would die, not that she just wouldn't get her magical and mystical powers. Also, what are these magical powers? The ability to be super hot and stop caring about people? Considering this was recommended to me as a "fantasy" and "magic" novel, it seems absurd that there is no real mention or explanation of the actual magic that these girls will be getting once they complete the quest of breaking a heart.
Characters
The trio was ridiculous. They are ridiculously hot girls because they use magic to break boy's hearts and, oh yeah, now that they have vowed to never love again they are just super awesome at everything. I rolled my eyes while typing that out. The parties that they host and go to are ridiculously extravagant and the fact that Olivia just happens to own a house and no one questions it is probably the largest part of the "fantasy" aspect of this novel.
Lucy is extremely naive and not an interesting heroine or protagonist. Does she make the right choice in not breaking a certain heart? Yes, but it isn't enough to redeem her and all her stupid actions in my mind. She is constantly making immature and inappropriate choices and doesn't think about the consequences. It seems odd to me that she would make time for Tristan while she is dating Alex, but doesn't make time for him because she starts hanging out with the new three girls. If you don't throw over your best friend for a guy, you aren't going to throw him over for a new bunch of friends that you don't even think like you as a person for the majority of the novel.
And the ending. Like the whole book was "Tristan doesn't fall in love" so like let's just keep it that way. And if the next book is like, oh now Tristan is in love with someone, I might actually stab my eyes out.
Overall 1.5/5 stars. Honestly, I only finished reading this because I was at work and had nothing else to do. Not really worth the read.
This book was for my daughter and she really liked it . She read through the book very fast so I know she enjoyed it a lot.
I thought this was going to be kind of a girly, dumb book (which I was going to read regardless) but then I looked at the author and I love her. (Wherever Nina Lies is another great one by her). This book is unique, interesting, and a fabulous read!
The Secret Sisterhood of Heartbreakers had an extremely promising premise, but it fell flat in its execution. I did finish the book, but it didn't really strike a chord with me since the story and the characters are kind of bland.
I'm all for girl power and banding together over something as traumatic as a broken heart, so the idea of the sisterhood appealed to me. I wasn't enamored with the idea of breaking hearts (even if some of those people deserved it), but it was interesting to see the magic at work. I liked the huge closet though, as well as the makeover.
The characters weren't memorable, and I had problems with some of their actions and attitudes. This is probably the main reason I didn't like this book.
All in all, while it was interesting to read, The Secret Sisterhood of Heartbreakers was not a stand out read.
